How Seedline started

With a sewing machine in 1997. Here’s the rest, how we work and who leads us.

Our story

It started with a sewing machine

In 1997, Ruth, a member of a small church, lent a widow named Agnes enough money to buy a second-hand sewing machine. Agnes paid it back in nine months, then asked whether her friends could borrow too. Ruth said yes, and suggested they start saving together first.

Today about a million families take part through local churches and partner banks. We believe every person is made in God’s image, with gifts and work worth doing, and that the church is the best place to start.
